Immune Support Au Naturale

What if I told you that all digestive and most of energy issues were related to the immune system? The immune system is a humongous part of our overall wellness and is in fact a LARGE contributing factor in the rate at which we see and experience aging.

Whhhaaaat?!

I’m going to geek out a bit in this upcoming month by focusing on the Immune System. Wondering if this information applies to you?

Your immune system might need some serious TLC if you experience the following on a regular basis:

-Season allergies (or chronic allergies)
-Digestive discomfort or challenge (heartburn, IBS, IBD, persistent bloating, constipation or excessive gas)
-Always coming down with a cold or flu
-Autoimmune disease (it’s estimated that 25-50 million Americans suffer from autoimmune diseases!)
-Low energy

As a Functional Medicine practitioner, we see that immune imbalance will generally arise when one or more of the following is of issue: a proinflammatory diet, food allergies or intolerances, microbial infection, hormone imbalances, nutritional deficiency, toxin exposure or genetic predisposition.

The craziest thing is that genetic predisposition is has been shown to responsible for LESS THAN 50% of the risk! This is GREAT NEWS because that means that even if autoimmune or immune imbalance IS genetic, there are many things that you CAN do to help support a healthy genetic expression of immune function. Wahoo!

So, in the next few posts we will be covering all aspects on how you can better support your immune system, no matter if you’re just wanting to be proactive or if you’re truly dealing with any of the health challenges listed above.

-There will be a post on the physical contributions of the immune system (like food, microbial imbalance, gut health and toxin exposure) AND I will be sharing some clinical pearls o’ wisdom on how you can make natural changes and use natural solutions to better support your health in these areas.
-We will have a post on the emotional and spiritual wellness contribution to the immune system. This is one of the coolest pieces of immune system health! It can make the biggest difference in the long run.
-We will talk about yoga and physical exercise that can help to support a re-harmonizing of the immune system. There are many types of workouts that can further challenge and wear out the immune system, however I will be sharing some feel good workouts for anyone struggling to stay healthy.

I’ll be honest, my love and obsession with immune system support is selfish. Since I was a kid my immune system showed major signs of weakness: constant inner ear infections, strep throat, allergies, fatigue etc. It all came to a head when I was in college when my gut started to give me problems (hello bloated belly that appeared as if I was preggers...and I wasn’t!)

My long road to recovery began when I looked my conventional doctor in the eye and and asked if there was anything else I could do for my health as he handed me over my THIRD antibiotic prescription in the SAME YEAR!

He said no but it turns out, there was in fact LOTS that I could (and needed) to do in order to turn my immune system and quality of life around.

And I did! And I’m so excited to share with you how to do it too!

If you have anyone you think could benefit from this immune info series, please share this link with them so they can also receive the emails.
