A little description…

Breathing. It seems too simple to be effective, doesn’t it? However, multiple studies support the immense benefits of mindful breathing. A very simple and short session of mindful breathing can bring stress levels into normal range, and can be done is as little as five minutes.

Start by sitting comfortably with your eyes closed, hands in your lap. Inhale for a count of 10. Hold the breath in for a count of 10. Exhale for a count of 10. Hold the out-breath for a count of 10. Repeat process. I always recommend starting with five-minute sessions and working your way up to eleven minutes.

To amplify the benefits of this mindful breathing technique, you can also apply or diffuse one of the stress-lowering essential oils like Lavender, Roman Chamomile or cleansing oils like Lemongrass, Petitgrain, Tea Tree or Eucalyptus. A popular combination for this exercise is a mix of Lavender, Lemongrass and Peppermint. The Lavender is relaxing and soothing, the Lemongrass purifying and releases toxic energy, while Peppermint encourages easy, fluid breathing.
